Марк Аллан Дакаскос
Mark Dacascos (Mark Allan Dacascos) was born on February 26, 1964 in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA - an American actor and master of martial arts. He has won numerous karate fights and various styles of kung fu championships between the ages of 7 and 18. Several blood flows in the veins of Mark Dacascos: Chinese, Filipino, Spanish, Japanese and Irish. His father Al Dacascos (Albert Joseph Dacascos) is a martial arts instructor, he became Mark's first Sifu (mentor in martial arts). Mark's mother, Moriko McVey, was Al's student. The second sifu for Mark was his "second mother" Malia Bernal. She was one of the top ten fighters in the United States and for five years was the first in martial arts among women. She was also the first woman to appear on the cover of the popular Black Belt magazine. El Dacascos created his own Wun hop kuen do kung fu style, which was influenced by Chinese and Filipino schools. This is a combination of Kajukenbo's fist style (Karate, Kudo Judo, KENpo) and the Chinese and Western Boxing (BOxing), which was distributed in Hawaii. Al Dacascos teaches his style in Portland, Oregon, USA .
He won his first martial arts tournament when he was 9 years old. At the age of 17, Mark went to Taiwan to study at the Muo-Hui Shen Seth, who then taught the Qin-nu and Shuayjiao styles ("Chinese judo"), in which, for grabs and painful tricks, the clothes of the opponent are used. In parallel, Mark continued to participate in tournaments and demonstrations. Mark also became a student of Professor Jiang Hao-Quan, who taught various styles of Shaolin, as well as the styles of Chin Na, Shui Jao and Tai Chi (Tai Chi) .Mark later began to study capoeira with Amen Santo, who will play his teacher in the movie "Only the Strongest."
Martial arts ... "... have always been a part of my life," says Mark.
“And I will work hard to continue to improve. There were times when I “stagnated”, several times there were times when I needed a break and I did other things. But to be honest, I never thought about leaving the martial arts at all. I was lucky to have three parents, two of whom, in my humble opinion, are terrific fighters (Al Dacascos and Malia Bernal). I would like to someday teach and teach others what they taught me. Being their student from early childhood, I learned what hard work is - it prepared me for the profession of an actor. Mental and spiritual aspects helped me as much as physical training. I think they were even more important. Thank you, dad and mom! ”
Interview with Mark Dacascos from the filming of the film "NOMAD".
A HUGE REPRESENTATION OF MASTERS OF EASTERN UNIVERSAL AS AS COLD-BLOODED AND RETAINED PEOPLE IS DESTROYED AFTER COMMUNICATION WITH ACTOR MARC DACASCOS - A STAR OF SUCH PERSONALITY. THIS PROFESSION OF ALL JOINS AND FIGHTS IN REAL LIFE turned out to be VERY EMOTIONAL AND DISCOVERED. HE JOYFULLY SHARED ITS IMPRESSIONS FROM SHooting IN THE RECENTLY RECEIVED FILM "FILM.
? In your films, you demonstrate a brilliant command of a wide variety of knives. In the "Nomad" they torn up with swords. Is this your usual weapon?
“Indeed, the sword is my favorite weapon.” I can talk about it for an infinitely long time and show a variety of methods of battle for an infinitely long time. And I can use the sword with both hands: what’s right, what’s left - for me there is no difference. Incidentally, on the set of Nomad I had to wield a sword without getting off my horse! I know martial arts very well, I’ve been studying them since I was six, but this has never happened before.
? By the way, the weapons in the film looked very authentic. Were the swords real?
- It was a killer thing! The sword turned out to be heavy, sharp ... In general, the real instrument of death. Just imagine: I, not being able to really stay in the saddle, had to, putting my horse in a gallop, wield a real sword and at the same time manage to not kill either myself, nor the horse, nor the actors who surrounded me. Our rehearsals were no different from a real fight. This, of course, was very hot in the blood, but also made us behave very carefully. For that, my film partners tried their best! Most of them were not professional actors and therefore sometimes forgot that they were filming. As soon as I survived ?! Everyone seemed to be striving to slash me with a sword with all his might! Therefore, during the battle I did not portray a defensive block, but really defended myself, fearing that I would not be cut to pieces. But it also helped to get used to the role. On the set, we did not seek to fight beautifully, but fought as in life. It turned out very real: dirty and bloody. Thank God everyone was alive!?
What is decisive for you in choosing a picture: a decent fee, an exciting plot, an interesting role or the advice of your beautiful wife Julie Kondra?
- I never agree to act in film without first reading the script from the first page to the last, even if m is not to appear in all the scenes. M it is not necessary to feel the material, decide how I feel about it, think over the character of the hero, and understand what feelings I feel about him. That is, decide whether it is mine or not. Only after that I see who will be the director and producer of the film. As for the money ... I starred in films for a lot of money, but I used to agree to small fees. For me, money is not the most important thing both in the cinema and in life.
“WIFE WANTS THAT I FIGHT AT THE CINEMA AND NOT KISS”
And yet, about the attitude of your wife to your choice of films ... Do you consult with Julie before agreeing to participate in the filming?
- Naturally! That is, for me personally it is natural, I can not speak for others. I deeply respect her mind, her vision of the plot, her delicate artistic taste. Julie's advice to me means more than the many recommendations of the so-called following people.
? In star families, it happens that one member of the family has a more successful career than his half. Because of this, often quarrels arise. Does this happen in the family of Mark and Julie and how do they deal with it?
“I must admit that I am a happy person: I was very lucky with my wife.” And all because for Julie remains the primary role of the mother and wife, and not the actress. (Mark and Julie met on the set of the action movie "The Crying Killer." Now Julie continues to occasionally act in films and on television. She flashed in episodes of the famous TV series "Who's in charge?", "Santa Barbara", Married ... With children, " “Cool Walker” and others. - Approx. Aut.) In my opinion, this is completely natural for a woman. So I want to believe that this is natural! Now you can meet families where a man takes on the role of the guardian of the outbreak, but it seems to me that this is contrary to human nature. Julie made her choice in favor of the family. And when I star in a new film, Julie is glad that she can sit at home and do housework and a son (this year their only son, Makoalani, Charles Dacascos, turns six years old; he was born, like his father, in one of the Hawaiian islands. - Note Auth.). However, when I get a window in my creative schedule and there’s no shooting - the truth is, this is rare! - Julie also starred in some project. That is, we both work so that the family does not starve. (Laughs)
? Probably, just so that “the family would not“ go hungry ”, Julie, shortly without her husband, graduated from the prestigious and expensive American Culinary Institute.
? Wife is not against the fact that in the movies you have love scenes?
- By the way, did you notice that in 99 percent of my films I mainly deal in desperately fighting, hitting people with hands, legs and any weapons that turn up under my arm? And only in one percent of films can I see that I kiss women. I must admit that my wife does not like it when the script I have to love another. Julie still prefers that I fight in a movie rather than kiss.
As for fights, fights, fights and other things, here Mark is beyond competition. His first teachers were father and mother, and at the age of seven, Mark first participated in a karate tournament. He then studied the styles of Northern Shaolin and Black Tiger, as well as capoei-ru - a Brazilian kick fight. Glory is not easy: he exhausts himself with training, doing 12-14 hours a day. Three to four times a week, Dakaskos practices kung fu, taichi and wushu with a martial arts professor, 83-year-old ChangHao Wang. His training schedule includes weight lifting and stretching exercises. And the most beloved is running on hands, which Mark considers to be the ideal way to maintain the body in a sports form.
“This is a very convenient type of sports load: I can even practice in a hotel room,” laughs Mark. - Do not drag me a ton of sports equipment!
? Recently, here and there they say that actor Mark Dacascos is going to leave the movie, open a martial arts school and lead it. Yes, you yourself have repeatedly said that one day you will become a martial arts teacher.
“My father is a kung fu teacher, my mother is a kung fu teacher.” I love martial arts and I like to teach, but there is one “but.” In life, unfortunately, there are good people and bad people. The school of martial arts is initially a commercial enterprise, and I will have to accept all students indiscriminately. I will have to teach everyone who pays, regardless of whether they are bad or good. Of course, people with bad intentions - although there are no one hundred percent bad people - can be set on the right path through a knowledge of the philosophy of martial arts, but I still do not want to train everyone in a row - I want to do it selectively and for free, only train those in whom I notice a great desire, who does not use talent for evil, but only for the good and for protection. As for whether I am going to leave the cinema for the sake of this dream of mine ... You know, throughout my life I have often thought about what I could do other than cinema. And mentally I’m still returning to the cinema. I like the life of the actor: constant moving, traveling, meeting new people ... You can call it an obsession, if you want. This is something you can’t refuse. By my art I strive to reach out to the hearts of people, to every spectator. This is something that I will never trade for anything.
